Area Forecast Discussion
Owens Valley / Mammoth Lakes / Mono County / Death Valley
Dennis Mattinson / Sierra Atmospheric Forecaster

Synopsis – WED DEC 17 2025

This is a tail of two forecasts. For most of the week, the Owens Valley stays dry, as a ridge keeps systems from dropping that far South. For Mammoth and points North, the weather pattern changes today, as a trough from the PACNW drops down far enough to affect that area. Lights POPs are expected in Mammoth, say 30% – 40% with snow levels hovering around 9-9.5K feet. By Saturday another trough from the PACNW drops farther south, bringing a colder and wetter pattern to our whole forecast area. Updates tomorrow…DMATT
