Dehy Park Ready for Play

During the lunch break at the Inyo Supervisors meeting Tuesday, the Board headed across the street to cut the ceremonial red ribbon on the new Dehy Park improvements in Independence.

Sponsored by the Independence Chamber of Commerce, Inyo Supervisor Jim Bilyeu took up the ceremonial scissors and cut the red ribbon to officially open up the new section of park.

The lawn has yet to grow in, but pathways wind through the park to the new play structure. With the children still in school, it was up to an Inyo Supervisor to take the ceremonial first trip down the slide.

A new steel bridge crosses the creek where it will connect to a trail that leads to the Eastern California Museum. There is also a new
basketball court.

This project, paid for in part by state grants, is now open for kids (and older types) to play
