The Inyo County Board of Supervisors is making approximately $40,000 available in competitive grants to help support events and projects that benefit the residents and visitors of Inyo County.

 

Application Details

 

  • Program Name: Community Project Sponsorship Program (CPSP).
  • Availability: Funding is available for events and projects sponsored by local non-profit groups and other entities, taking place in Inyo County during 2026.
  • Application Period Begins: Friday, October 10.
  • Deadline: Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 5 p.m..
  • Maximum Request: The maximum amount that can be requested is $7,500.
  • How to Apply: An online application is available at https://inyocounty.writer.com/cpsp/, which also has the grant guidelines, review criteria, tax status certification forms, and a final report template. Applicants can request a hard copy, but online submission is preferred.
  • Submission Location (Paper): Completed and signed Grant Applications (submitted on paper or digitally) must be received by the Office of the County Administrator.
  • Review: Grant applications will be reviewed for completeness and eligibility and then forwarded to an independent Review Panel for evaluation, ranking, and suggested funding levels.

 

Program Focus and Requirements

 

  • General Focus: The CPSP is generally focused on helping local organizations promote activities and programs that bring visitors to the area and enhance the cultural and recreational quality of life for the county’s residents.
  • Examples of Past Recipients: Recipients in recent years include the Inyo County Search and Rescue’s Range of Light fundraising trail races, Friends of the Fair’s Friday Night Markets, the Lone Pine Film History Museum’s Concert in the Rocks, and Vole Fest 2025 in Tecopa.
  • Non-profit Requirements: Non-profit applicants must be in good standing with both the Internal Revenue Service and California Franchise Tax Board. Insurance documentation may also be required depending on the type of activity planned.
  • Funding Withholding: Funding will be withheld and not awarded to entities that owe Inyo County property tax payments.

 

Other County Sponsorship Programs

 

The competitive pool of funding is one of three programs offered through CPSP:

  • Perennial Community Events: Nearly $50,000 is awarded in various CPSP line-item grants for events such as Mule Days and the Wild Wild West Marathon.
  • Fishing Derbies: $32,500 is distributed in line-item grants to support local fishing derbies.
  • Grants-In-Support: Outside of the CPSP, the Board of Supervisors also provides $25,000 in County Marketing Grants and $122,000 through the Grants-In-Support program.
