A controlled burn by LADWP did send quite a bit of smoke south through Lone Pine. Russ Monroe sent along the photos of what happened with the smoke.

Smoke extended from the Alabama Gates, the site of the controlled burn, down to the Owens Dry lake by 11am. The smoke shrouded the Inyo mountains for about an hour. Some people in the Lone Pine area reported that they had to stop work and go inside to avoid the smoke.
