City of Bishop and Visionary Home Builders Secure AHSC Funding for Silver Peaks Community

BISHOP, CA – The City of Bishop and Visionary Home Builders of California, Inc. (VHB) announce the award of $26.46 million in Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) funding for the Silver Peaks community, approved by the California Strategic Growth Council on December 10, 2025.

Silver Peaks will bring 60 new affordable homes for families at 30%, 50%, and 60% AMI, along with a community center, Head Start childcare space, ADA-adaptable units, and energy-efficient features—creating a safe, modern, and connected community for Bishop residents.

The AHSC award also invests in citywide mobility and sustainability improvements, including 2.28 miles of new bikeways, upgraded bus stops, 1,200 feet of accessible walkways, and expanded anti-displacement services, supporting Bishop’s long-term commitment to equitable and sustainable growth.

“This AHSC award is a transformative milestone for both VHB and the Bishop community. Silver Peaks will bring high-quality, sustainable homes and meaningful mobility improvements that enhance daily life for local families. We are grateful for our partnership with the City of Bishop and excited to bring this vision to life. A special thank-you to everyone who worked together to make this achievement possible.” – Carol J. Ornelas, President and CEO, VHB

“The City of Bishop is thrilled to see this project moving forward,” said Stephen Muchovej, City of Bishop Mayor. “This AHSC award brings unprecedented investment in affordable homes, safe transportation options, and community-serving infrastructure. Silver Peaks will serve families for generations and strengthen our commitment to creating a thriving, inclusive Bishop.”

The City of Bishop and VHB celebrate this award as a significant step toward expanding housing opportunities and enhancing residents’ quality of life. Both partners look forward to delivering a vibrant new community that reflects Bishop’s values and vision for the future.
