On Saturday, June 26, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM at the Imagination Lab’s “Story Hour,” Cindy Kamler will offer readings from her soon-to-be published book, “Connections: Experiences with Wildlife and Nature,” accompanied by a slide show.

Cindy Kamler new book

The Eastern Sierra community knows Cindy as the founder-director of Wildcare Eastern Sierra (formerly Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care). She has also been an actor and director, editor, waitress, arts coordinator, gardener, poet, journalist, and taught poetry and theater in the Owens Valley schools. She has worked with actors and athletes, children and wild animals. She’s been around the world twice. Cindy went to school in Manila, hitchhiked through Europe, swam with sea lions in the Galapagos, had a close encounter with an elephant in Amboselli, and visited the mountain gorillas in Rwanda. Then she became a wildlife rehabilitator.

“My adventures with Mother Earth and the creatures with whom we share this amazing planet have inspired me,” explained Kamler. “A desire to share my joy and fascination has led to this book of poems, prose, excerpts from my travel diaries, and some “tails” for kids.”

Kamler continued: “I’m hoping that this presentation will inspire me to finalize the publication process soon! Thanks to Eva Poole-Gilson and the Imagination Lab for the opportunity.”
