Bishop – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has begun construction on several projects in Inyo and Mono Counties.

In Inyo and Mono Counties, the McNally Shoulders project on US Highway 6 between Silver Canyon Road and Pumice Mill Road (approximately 4 miles north of the junction of US Hwy 395). The purpose of this project is widening the shoulders to a width of 8 feet. Construction on this project began on May 7th, and should be completed by August 1, 2018. This $3,013,321 project was awarded to Griffith Company Contractors from Bakersfield, CA. During construction hours, traffic may encounter up to 20 minute delays as vehicles are piloted through the active work zone. Construction hours are Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am to 7:00 pm and Fridays, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.

In Mono County on US Highway 395 near Bridgeport from Buckeye Road to 2.9 miles south of Swauger Canyon, the Sheep Ranch Shoulders project is underway. This is project is also widening the shoulders to a width of 8 feet, but also includes installing skip rumble strips, repairing culvert pipes, and installing an anchored slope stabilization system in four locations. Construction began on May 7th and is scheduled to be completed in 2019. This $10,283,838 project was awarded to Papich Construction Company from Pismo Beach, CA. During construction hours, traffic may encounter up to 30 minute delays as vehicles are piloted through the active work zone. Construction hours are Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am to 7:00 pm and Fridays, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.

In Mono County on State Route 158 from the south junction of US Highway 395 through June Lake, CA to the winter closure gate (a total of 6 miles), the June Lake Scrub Seal project will begin on Friday, June 1st. This is project will seal the pavement and includes stripping. Construction is scheduled to be completed by Friday, June 8th, 2018. This $383,676 project was awarded to American Pavement Systems, Inc. from Modesto, CA. No parking signs in June Lake Village will be posted on Friday, June 1st and will be in place until construction has been completed. Traffic may encounter up to 20 minute delays as vehicles are piloted through the active work zone. Construction hours are Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am to 8:00 pm and Fridays, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.
