Traffic Advisory for the Week of February 10, 2025
EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of February 10 – February 14.
Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
New Traffic Impacts
Inyo County
· Buttermilk Road Wire Crossing – On State Route 168 W between Buttermilk Road and E. Bishop Creek Road, utility crews will cross wire over the road on Monday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control and drivers may experience 10-minute delays. · West Bishop Wire Crossing – On State Route 168 W between Brockman Lane and Pa Me Lane, there will be intermittent traffic breaks while utility crews cross wire over the road on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 10-minute delays.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
· State Route 58 Water Line Boring – On State Route 58 between Exit 172 and just east of 30th Street near Mojave, the shoulders in both directions will close while crews continue to bore into the ground to install a water line sleeve. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. · China Lake Water Main Replacement – On State Route 178 E between N. Brady Street and N. Victor Street, the westbound shoulder will close intermittently while crews replace signs Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. · Ridgecrest Sidewalks – On State Route 178 E between South Gateway Boulevard and Gold Canyon Street, the outside westbound lane is closed for new curb ramp construction. Work is scheduled for Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays. · 23/24 Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project – On State Route 178 E at various locations between Ridgecrest Boulevard and Las Flores Avenue, crews will modify traffic signals and lighting systems. Work is scheduled overnight Monday through Thursday from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. Drivers may experience brief delays. · Kern County Lighting Replacements Project – Work will pause on this project until light standards are delivered. Once work resumes, it will be scheduled overnight Monday through Friday from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am at various locations on State Route 58 and U.S. 395.
Inyo County
· Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Project – Construction continues on the Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Expressway Project. Northbound drivers will encounter two traffic switches on the new lanes of U.S. 395 and traffic is limited to one lane in each direction through the northern half of the project area. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through the project area and 45 mph through the two traffic switches.
Travelers are asked to be attentive to workers on the highway, slow for the cone zone, and move over whenever possible to give additional clearance. Be Safe and Be Work Zone Alert!
