Traffic Advisory for the Week of December 30 – January 3
EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of December 30 – January 3.
There will be no work on the State Highway System on January 1.
Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
New Traffic Impacts
Inyo County
· Bishop Pole Replacement – On U.S. 395 between See Vee Lane and MacGregor Avenue, utility crews will replace a pole and transfer wire across the road on Monday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
· China Lake Water Main Replacement – On State Route 178 E between N. Brady Street and N. Victor Street, the westbound outside lane is closed while crews replace a water main on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. The outside lane will reopen after work hours and the shoulder will close at night.
Inyo County
· Olancha-Cartago State Route 190 Connector – The State Route 190 connector within the Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Expressway Project is now open to the traveling public near Grant. This is the third of three new connectors that link the new lanes of U.S. 395 with the existing pavement of old U.S. 395 through Olancha and Cartago. Drivers are advised to follow the directions posted on highway signs. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through the project area and 45 mph through the two traffic switches.
· Death Valley Flood Damage Repair – Flood damage repairs on State Route 190 in Death Valley National Park are on pause until after the holidays. Work is scheduled to resume Monday, January 6 near the Inn at Furnace Creek.
Travelers are asked to be attentive to workers on the highway, slow for the cone zone, and move over whenever possible to give additional clearance. Be Safe and Be Work Zone Alert!
