Traffic Advisory for the Week of 11/24/2025 to 11/28/2025
EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of November 24 – November 28.
Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
There will be no work on the highway on Thursday and Friday, as the Department of Transportation will be observing the Thanksgiving Holiday.
New Traffic Impacts
EASTERN KERN COUNTY
· Tehachapi Sign Work – On State Route 58, Tucker Road (State Route 202) and Tehachapi Boulevard exits will have intermittent closures while crews replace essential signage on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
MONO COUNTY
· Green Creek Utility Work – On U.S. 395 at Green Creek Road south of State Road 270 (Bodie Road), there will be a lane closure and intermittent traffic breaks as utility crews pull wire across the highway on Sunday, November 23, from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 5-minute delays. · Topaz Utility Work – On U.S. 395, from Topaz Lane to Comstock Drive, the shoulders will close as utility crews pull fiberoptic cable and install new conduit on Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delay. · Little Bodie Monument Work – On U.S. 395, two miles north of Conway Summit, there will one-way traffic control as utility crews dig anchors for poles along the northbound lane Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 5-minute delays.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts INYO COUNTY
· Meadow Farms ADA Project – Construction on southbound U.S. 395 between Barlow Lane and Tu Su Lane continues next week. Due to recent storms, the move to the next work area—northbound U.S. 395 between See Vee Lane and the bridge—has been pushed to the first week of December. All current traffic control will remain in place throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Bridge work over Bishop Creek will continue through the rest of the year. Work is scheduled Monday through Wednesday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays. · Bishop Pavement Project – On North Sierra Highway at See Vee Lane, construction will begin Monday on the curb ramps, gutters, and driveways in front of the firehouse on the southbound side of the highway. Between W. Line Street and Lagoon Street, construction on the sidewalks and curb ramps is expected to finish by Wednesday. The move to the next work area—northbound U.S. 395 from Grove Street to Bishop Creek in Bishop City Park—has been pushed to the first week of December. All current traffic control will remain in place throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. At U.S. 395 and U.S. 6, there will be overnight drilling work starting Monday night at 6:30 pm. On Tuesday night starting at 9:00 pm, there will be overnight drilling work at W. Line Street. The westbound lane on W. Line Street will close at the intersection of U.S. 395 to accommodate the work. The speed limit is reduced to 35 mph from See Vee Lane to Wye Road and 25 mph from W. Line Street to just south of Jay Street. Work is scheduled Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays. · Fish Springs Pavement Project – One northbound lane south of Big Pine will remain closed next week as crews stripe the highway and install signs, rumble strips, and guideposts. In town, drivers may encounter brief lane closures as crews work on the sidewalks, pedestrian islands, and utilities. The speed limit is 25 mph in Big Pine and 55 mph south of town. Work is scheduled Monday through Wednesday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays. · Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Project – On U.S. 395, from south of Olancha to north of Cartago, there will be intermittent lane closures in both directions as crews continue construction activities on the highway. The speed limit remains 55 mph through the project area.
MONO COUNTY
· Rock Creek Pavement Project – On U.S. 395 near Tom’s Place, crews are installing electrical infrastructure at the Tom’s Place intersection. There will be intermittent lane closures and drivers may experience brief delays. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through the project area. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The Olancha Cartago 4-Lane Project received $38.3 million, the Fish Springs Pavement Project received $36.79 million, the Bishop Pavement Project received $18.36 million, and the Meadow Farms ADA Project received $13.56 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) – also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Under IIJA, California will receive an estimated $41.9 billion over five years. IIJA provides significant funding to rebuild California’s transportation system, including support to improve roadways, bridges, freight projects, public transportation, infrastructure safety enhancements, and to increase infrastructure resiliency to the impacts of severe weather and climate change. The Fish Springs Pavement Project received $4.77 million, the Bishop Pavement Project received $2.4 million, and the Rock Creek Pavement Project received $2.1 million from Senate Bill (SB) 1. SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1.
