Traffic Advisory for the Week of 1/19/2026

EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of January 19 – January 23.

Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.

New Traffic Impacts

Eastern Kern County

• Cameron Road Culvert Cleaning – On State Route 58 near Cameron Canyon Road east of Tehachapi, the outside lane and shoulder in both directions will close while crews clean culverts Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
• Keene Guardrail Repair – On State Route 58 from just west of Woodford-Tehachapi Road at Exit 139 to approximately two miles east near Tehachapi, the eastbound outside lane and shoulder will close while crews repair guardrail. Work is scheduled Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
• Red Rock Canyon Drainage Work – On State Route 14 from the southern boundary of Red Rock Canyon State Park to Jawbone Canyon Road, the southbound outside lane and shoulder will close while crews perform drainage work Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.

Mono County

• Benton Utility Work – On U.S. 6 from South Road to three miles south, utility crews will pull wire over the roadway Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control, and drivers may experience 10-minute delays.

Ongoing Traffic Impacts

Inyo County

• Meadow Farms ADA Project – Northbound traffic on U.S. 395 will shift back to the southbound lanes just east of See Vee Lane on Tuesday. On the northbound lanes of U.S. 395, traffic is reduced to one lane from See Vee Lane to the bridge. All driveways remain accessible during construction. Bridge work over Bishop Creek will continue through the end of January. The speed limit within the work area is 25 mph. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
• Bishop Pavement Project – Sidewalk work is ongoing between Grove Street and the park on the northbound side of U.S. 395. Access to Elm Street from U.S. 395 is unavailable, but detours are available. On North Sierra Highway between Wye Road and See Vee Lane, traffic remains on the southbound lanes while crews install new box culverts under the northbound lanes and work on the curbs, gutters, and driveways for the new multi-use path. The speed limit is reduced to 35 mph from See Vee Lane to Wye Road. Caltrans continues to monitor the roadway and may temporarily stop traffic to implement fixes on the pavement. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
• Lone Pine Bulbouts Project – On U.S. 395 from Inyo Street to Bush Street, the outside lane, shoulder, and sidewalks in both directions are closed while crews construct pedestrian bulbouts Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is a sidewalk detour on the west side of the road, and businesses remain accessible throughout the project. Drivers may experience brief delays.
• Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Project – On U.S. 395, from south of Olancha to north of Cartago, drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures in both directions as crews continue construction activities on the highway. The speed limit remains 55 mph through the project area.

The Olancha Cartago 4-Lane Project received $38.3 million, the Bishop Pavement Project received $18.36 million, and the Meadow Farms ADA Project received $13.56 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA) – also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Under IIJA, California will receive an estimated $41.9 billion over five years. IIJA provides significant funding to rebuild California’s transportation system, including support to improve roadways, bridges, freight projects, public transportation, infrastructure safety enhancements, and to increase infrastructure resiliency to the impacts of severe weather and climate change. The Bishop Pavement Project received $2.4 million from Senate Bill (SB) 1.SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1.
