BISHOP – State Route 108 (Sonora Pass) is now closed for the winter season. The highway originally closed its gates on November 1 ahead of a significant snowstorm that blanketed the Sierras. Sonora Pass is the second District 9 highway to close for the season following the winter closure of State Route 203 at Mammoth Mountain. The Crestview Safety Roadside Rest Area north of Mammoth Lakes is closed for the winter season as well.
State Route 89 (Monitor Pass), which also closed on November 1, will reopen tomorrow, November 15, at noon. Caltrans crews are continuing to remove snow from impacted highways, and five District 9 roads remain in a storm closure. This includes:

- State Route 158 N (North June Lake Loop)
- State Route 120 E (Mono Mills Road)
- State Route 120 W at the Lee Vining Gate
- State Route 270 (Bodie Road)
