Bishop Christmas Parade to Close U.S. 395 on Saturday

BISHOP — U.S. 395 will close through most of Bishop tomorrow, December 2, for the city’s annual Christmas Parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM, but access to U.S. 395 will be restricted beginning at 3:30 PM.

The closure will stretch from Mandich Street to Sierra Street. Vehicles will not be able to travel across U.S. 395 once the closure is in place. The highway will reopen after the parade has finished and the road has been cleaned by the City of Bishop.

Detours will be available for those traveling on U.S. 395. Northbound traffic will detour at Mandich Street and follow signs to Sunland Avenue, West Line Street, and Home Street before rejoining the highway from Yaney Street. Southbound traffic will detour at Sierra Street and follow signs to Home Street, West Line Street, and Sunland Avenue before rejoining the highway from Schober Lane.

Caltrans reminds all drivers to obey posted speed limits when taking these detours.

Unattended chairs and other objects left along the parade route before Saturday are hazardous to vehicles and pedestrians and violate the California Vehicle Code. Caltrans will remove any unauthorized objects it spots along the parade route before Saturday’s event. Any chair or objects removed by Caltrans can be picked up during regular business hours at the Caltrans District Office at 500 South Main Street.
