C5 Studios presents Kris Hohag: Ambiguous Healing Art (A.H.A.) Moments In Time
C5 Studios is proud to present Ambiguous Healing Art (A.H.A.) Moments In Time, a show of artwork by multidisciplinary artist Kris Hohag. Raised in Payahuunadu, Kristopher Kwati-tatsinoba Hohag, aka Kwa-Z or “Uncle Kwaz”, is a citizen of the Bishop Paiute Tribe and also a descendant of the Mono Lake Kutzaduka’a.
In this public debut of Hohag’s paintings, the artist’s vibrant acrylic on canvas pieces reflect a deep connection to nature and the elemental forces that surround us, and an honoring of people and place that is both reverent and dynamic. Hohag’s colorful, energetic paintings invite the viewer to share space with artwork created through a process of honoring and healing. In the artist’s own words, “Since my first memories, I’ve been inspired and influenced by countless others and nature itself. Art has been a healing tool I have used throughout my life to find peace, gratitude and balance in a sometimes chaotic world.”
Abundant with color, pattern and abstraction, this captivating collection of paintings depicts familiar horizons and landscapes in a visual language somehow more analogous to an energetic, sensual or elemental experience of land and place than a visual recording. Hohag, a self-taught artist, offers viewers the honor of witnessing moments in time along an artist’s journey. “These are mercurial observations in the form of visual notes. I am always learning, excited to try something new. I love art because it is a safe space to experiment and express in a way that feels fresh and true. It is a place to renew and refresh our views, if we are open to it…”
The show opens to the public on Friday, September 5, 2025 at C5 Studios Community Arts Center with a reception with the artist from 5.30pm – 7.30pm. All are welcome!
