The BUHS Track and Field team traveled to the 50th Annual Elks Invitational in Fallon, NV, on Saturday, 3/22/25, where 32 teams competed. We brought just under half of our team, and our athletes performed incredibly well, setting a total of 19 personal records (PRs).
Here are some of the standout performances:
- Freshman Brandon Walters placed 9th in the 3200m with a time of 11:58.03
- Senior Layton Rossi placed 10th in Shot Put with a distance of 39’2.25″
- Senior Joseph Lent placed 3rd in Discus, re-broke the school record with a throw of 154′ 3″, and also set a new Athletics.Net BUHS Senior Class record in Discus. He now holds the #4 spot in the entire Central Section for Discus
- Senior Layton Rossi placed 8th in Discus with a throw of 118’4″
- Freshman Wyatt Miears placed 9th in Discus with a throw of 117’5″ and also broke the Athletics.Net BUHS Freshman Class records in both Shot Put (37′) and Discus (117’5″). The previous Shot Put record was 34’2″ (set in 2023), and the Discus record was 106’9″ (set in 2016)
- Nik Calderon placed 10th in High Jump with a height of 5’2″
- Meganna Westervelt set the Athletics.Net BUHS Senior Class record in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 1:01.54
Our next meet will be at home against Mammoth High School and Kern Valley High School on Wednesday, 4/2/25 at 3:00 PM. We’ll also compete in the Big George Invitational in Minden, NV, on Saturday, 4/5/25.
