BUHS Foundation for Excellence to kick-off October events at the FFA farm with a Wine Spooktacular Event.
BUHS FFE will hold their annual Wine Spooktacular on Saturday, October 4th, 2025 from 4:30-7:00 at the FFA farm on Sunland in Bishop to raise money for technology projects at BUHS through ticket sales, a raffle, and a silent auction. The fundraiser is open to the entire community that is over the age of 21. The Wine Spooktacular will feature wine, beer, and small bites provided by local vendors. There will also be a raffle with baskets and gift certificates curated by local businesses as well as a silent auction featuring a cabin stay in Aspendell, a Summit Capital financial planning package, Anaheim Ducks hockey tickets with a signed jersey and stick, and Frances Cholewa pottery, to name a few.
Joe Buffington, the BUHS FFA teacher, and this year’s Honorary American FFA Degree recipient, along with his creative and talented wife Corey, provide a magnificently decorated outdoor venue to enjoy food and drinks with friends and community members. FFA students and families have also been hard at work in September in preparation for the farm’s October events. The student-harvested pumpkin patch will be on October 10th-11th from 10:00am-4:00 pm, featuring McGee Creek Pack Station mule and horse rides, games, day swamp tours, tractor rides, baby animals, petting zoo, face painting and food. A community favorite, the Haunted Swamp Tour, will take place on October 18th and 25th from 7:00-9:00 pm to support the FFA programs and students.
The Wine Spooktacular will be the first event this Saturday, October 4th, hosted by the BUHS Foundation for Excellence. The foundation is a local charitable organization at BUHS that was formed in 1985 by a group of local business people who shared a concern over the inadequacy of education in our local high school district. The corporation is conducted as a non-profit public benefit corporation 501 © 3 tax exempt organization. Tax ID # 77-0099673.
Since its beginning, the focus of the Foundation has been to promote, encourage and support educational programs at Bishop Union High School. Some recent projects included funding a tractor for the school farm, a Book Lounge in the Bishop Student Center on campus, and purchasing the equipment and technology used in Will Centre’s Graphic Arts class for Bronco Industries. Taylor Currie, a senior Graphic Arts student shared, “Mr. C’s class is most likely my favorite class I have in my schedule this year…we move at a constant pace and are learning something new each week.”
Please come out and support the BUHS FFE program on Saturday, October 4th from 4:30-7:00 pm at the high school farm. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased on the BUHS GoFan https://gofan.co/app/school/CA18740 or at the BUHS Guidance Office.
