The BUHS Bronco Ski Race Team participated in races 3 and 4 of the South 2 Division of the California Nevada Ski and Snowboard Federation on February 18 and 19. Mammoth High School, Rim of the World High School, and Campbell Hall Episcopal High School were the other teams competing in these Alpine ski races held at Mammoth Mountain. Twelve Bronco skiers participated in the two Giant Slalom (GS) races on the first day and two Slalom (SL) races held on Friday.

For the girl’s team, senior Elinor Crall finished 15th and 16th in the GS races. Junior Teagan Orr had two 19 place finishes in the GS races and a 14 and 15 place finish in the SL races. Senior Ellizabeth Ellsworth had a 21 and 22 place finish in the GS races. Sophomore Eden Felde finished placing 24 in both GS races and 17 and 18 in the SL races.

The Bronco boys had a strong showing in the slalom races with a 1st and 2nd win by Bo Tanner and Tyler Gilbert, respectively. Sophomore Bo Tanner had a 3rd and 4th place finish in the SG races and finished 1st and 2nd in the SL races. Senior Tyler Gilbert had 7th  and 9th place finishes in the SG races and a solid 2nd place finish in the SL race. Senior Finn Zeugswetter had a 9th and 10th place finish in GS and finished 4th and 8th in the SL races. Freshman Colin Noesser finished 10th and 13th in the GS races and 10th and 12th in the SL races. Freshman Zavi Cokeley finished 9th place in the SL race. Freshman Brad Rockwell had an 11 place finish in the SL race and a 13 and 16 place finish in the GS race. Freshman Abram Crall completed the GS races finishing 13th and 17th. Junior Brody Berkovatz finished 15th in the GS race.

The team will now prepare to head to Sierra at Tahoe Ski Resort for the State Championships in early March. Stay tuned.
