The Broncos completed 2 Non league matches vs Burroughs from Ridgecrest the past 2 weeks.

On Wednesday Feb 25th the Broncos were forced to move their first home match of the season to China Lake Golf course due to the weather and snow covering our home course. We were not able to practice for 2 weeks due to the snow so we went into our first match a little sluggish. Although we gave it our all we fell short and lost our match of the season. We decided to just play a 9 hole match. With the final scores:

Burroughs 201

Bishop 230

We had done bright spots so I wasn’t too concerned. A lot of golf left in the season. Newcomer Sophomore August Veenker look good shooting our low round of 85 followed by fellow sophomore Zane Nicholson with an 89. We are really young this year and I was very pleased with how our younger and newer players played.

We again traveled back to Ridgecrest for our 2nd match of the season with more confidence and looking to even the score.

This match was an 18 hole match and the Broncos were able to come away with the victory:

Bishop 433

Burroughs 435

Very close and fun match. Both teams were having fun and joking with each other but still able to focus on the task. Awesome sportsmanship from both teams and Burroughs was a very inviting and enjoyable host.

Low round for the day belonged to Bronco Sophomore Francesco Toscanini with an impressive 77 considering the course conditions and wind. Francesco bounced back from the first match with a focused and confident round. Sophomore Reed Carpenter scored an 84 with Senior Robbie McBride posting an 86. This was a big improvement from the first match.

We were also able to take all 18 players as Burroughs had a big team with extras as well. So we decided to let these kids play matches as well. Great experience and they get a look at a competition match.

Again the Broncos were able to get wins in both of the extra matches. I was very impressed and excited to see these broncos play very good.

In the second match the Broncos came out on top 457 to 572. Very impressive win. Freshman Dominic Jacobsen led the way with the low matching the day at 82! I am extremely happy and excited for Dominic. He has improved everyday since the start of the season and worked his way up the team ladder. Clay Jahn and Weston White each posted scores of 89 and freshman Talon Romero shot a 90. These are great scores for do early in the season. We will continue to improve throughout the season.

The Broncos travel to California City today for their first league match of the season.
