The Broncos advance to the CIF Semifinals for a third consecutive season winning in dramatic fashion Friday night against Cabrillo.

 

Bishop led 14-12 in the 4th quarter before Cabrillo took the lead 19-14 with 2 minutes to play. Facing 4th and 20 Emory Dondero connected with Levi Derr for 33 yards keeping the drive and the season alive. Dondero would finish the drive with a 6 yard touchdown run with less than a minute to play. Emory also ran in the 2 point conversion putting the score at 22-19. Freshman Dom Barlow intercepted a Cabrillo pass as time expired, sealing the victory. Next up for Bishop is a trip to Liberty Madera in the Semifinals.

 

Friday night Quarterback Emory Dondero connected on 18 of 26 passes for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brother Dom Dondero and DeVaun Mitchell caught touchdowns. Levi Derr caught a season high 8 passes for 105 yards. Hunter Dailey rushed for 83 yards on 18 carries.

 

Defensively the Broncos were led by their defensive backs, Chucky Delgado, Elliott Douda, Richie Talavera and Hunter Dailey. Delgado had 10 solo tackles and 2 assists. Douda made 7 solos and a tackle for a loss. Talavera made 5 solos and 5 assists. Dailey had 3 solos and 3 assists with 2 tackles for a loss. Levi Derr had 1.5 sacks and 5 solo tackles. Dom Dondero had 3 solos and 3 assists including a tackle for a loss. David Smith had a sack and broke up a pass. Jaiden Jimenez had a big tackle for a loss and 2 assists.
