south_pacSome enchanted evening, yes? Yes, according to playgoers from Playhouse 395s presentation of South Pacific. The play debuted last weekend and continues March 19, 20, 26 & 27 at Bishop High School Auditorium.

South Pacific is based on James Micheners Pulitzer Prize-winning Tales of the South Pacific and is set in the Polynesian islands during World War II. Culture clash, wartime uncertainties, classic characters, romance and great music. Rogers and Hammersteins memorable songs weave through the story like gold Bali HaI, Some Enchanted Evening, Happy Talk, Younger Than Springtime, and more. South Pacific appeared as a musical on Broadway in 1949 and a film in 1958.

Fine local actors bring the performance to life. Chuck Scatolini masterfully plays the lead character, Emile DeBeque. Nellie Forbush is portrayed by Jessica Bruchette; Bloody Mary – Karen Keehn; Lt. Joe Cable – Brandon Parker; Luther Billis – Robb Saunders and many others.

Show times are Fridays at 7pm and Saturdays at 2pm and 7pm. Check it all out at www.playhouse395.com.
