Bishop Union Track & Field Competes at the Burroughs Invitational – Ridgecrest, CA

The Bishop Union High School Track & Field team traveled to Ridgecrest this weekend to compete in the Burroughs Invitational, where 13 schools from Barstow to Palmdale and Tehachapi came together for a great day of competition.

Our athletes represented Bishop very well, recording several top finishes, personal records, and multiple school records.

BUHS Boys Highlights

100m (Varsity)
• Hunter Dailey (So) – 12.10, 6th place, and broke the sophomore school record in the 100m.
• Carlos Sualez (Sr) – 12.14, 9th place.

200m (JV)
• Daniel Bigham (So) – 26.51, 9th place.

1600m (JV)
• Caleb Chytka (Fr) – 5:53.55, 8th place.

4×100 Relay (Boys) – 47.60, 5th place overall

Shot Put (Varsity)
• Wyatt Miears (So) – 1st place, 49’4″. Wyatt broke the sophomore school record by 11 feet, and the mark will likely qualify him automatically for the Division IV Championships. Wyatt later suffered an injury during discus after throwing warm-up throws that were nearly 60 feet farther than the second-place discus thrower.
• Carlos Sualez (Sr) – 38’10”, 5th place.
• Kingston Gruwell (So) – 36’10”, 10th place.

Discus (Varsity)
• Tavien Davis (Sr) – 110’9″, 3rd place.
• Kingston Gruwell (So) – 97’1″, 7th place.

High Jump (Varsity)
• Carlos Sualez (Sr) – 5’6″, 4th place, and broke the Senior Class record in the high jump.
• Tosa Schultz (So) – 4’10”, 4th place (JV).
• Cosmo Schwartz (Fr) – 4’6″, 5th place (JV).

Long Jump (Varsity)
• Hunter Dailey (So) – 19’2.5″, 4th place, breaking the sophomore school record.

Triple Jump (Varsity)
• Hunter Dailey (So) – 38’9″, 5th place, also breaking the sophomore school record.

• Ellie Solomon (Fr) – 14.76, 2nd place.
• Charlotte Haverstock (Fr) – 14.96, 5th place.

200m (JV)
• Ellie Solomon (Fr) – 30.58, 3rd place.

4×100 Relay (Girls) – 55.13, 4th place overall

Weightman Relays

The Bishop Boys Weightman Relay team delivered an incredible performance, winning 1st place for the third year in a row and finishing nearly 100 meters ahead of the competition.

The Girls Weight Lady Relay team also captured 1st place, with Charlotte Haverstock anchoring the relay and winning the race at the finish line.
