Eastern Sierra News for November 29, 2024

Bishop Union High School girls varsity soccer team hosted Burroughs Burros varsity team on November 23, 2024 for the first game of the season. Bishop Union High School came out swinging with a halftime score of 5 to 0 and a final score of 10 to 0.

The squad of 18 learned a lot from the game in areas where they were strong and those we need to focus on.  The defense held strong allowing only two shots at goal.

Our offense produced 10 goals with Brooke Taylor leading the team with three goals and one assist. During the game, six different players scored including two for captain Alyssa Buchholz, two goals for Taylor Derr, and one goal for Dulce Martinez, Maleah Devincent, and Ashley Sandoval.

It was a true team effort with a total of six assists, one from Dulce Martinez, Ashley Sandoval, Maleah Devincent, Brooke Taylor, Madyn Weller, and Leah Taylor.

Brooke Taylor was named player of the game due to her persistent offensive attack and defensive play. She communicated well at all times during the game. A big congratulations to Brooke Taylor for this week’s player of the game.

The team would like to thank the Burros for the great sportsmanship exhibited during play.

The varsity girls soccer team would like to thank Back Alley Bowling for hosting our first home game team dinner. The salad, hamburgers, and fries we’re a tasty treat to help set the tone for a great win, along with the karaoke from team members.
