The Bishop Union High School girls tennis team hosted Golden Valley from Bakersfield on Friday Aug. 29th.
Final Score Bishop 5 Golden Valley 4
3 of the 5 points were won on the singles side. Kinlei Romero played the # 1 singles and won 8-5. Harshvi Raulji played # 5 winning 8-4. Siena Pope in the #6 spot won 6-0. 2 other singles matches went to tie-breaks. Avery McGraw lost her tie-break 5-7 and Sofie Ablanedo lost her tie-break 0-7.
Amelia Winter was the #4 singles losing 2-8.
The other 2 points were won in the doubles matches. Kinlei Romero and Avery McGraw teamed up to win 8 -6. Aubree Frechette and Leah Morrison won the final point for the day with a close 9-7 score.
Other doubles were Azul Aranzubia and Lila Santana. They lost 4-8.
“This is the first time Bishop has ever beat Golden Valley” said Coach Cummings. “I’m very happy with the effort this team has been showing in practice and it paid off today.”
Next Bishop takes a few weeks off until Oct. 1st when they have a home match against Kern Valley at 1:00 pm.
