This report came to Sierra Wave News courtesy of the Bishop Police Department on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Apparently, some local residents from Bishop and Mammoth Lakes have decided that stealing vehicles in Los Angeles and then driving them back up here to where they live is a good way to get around? Let’s hope not. Stay-at-Home! Except that the order was lifted.

Crime/Offense: VC 10851 – Vehicle Theft

On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, an officer conducting patrol in the 300 block of E. Pine Street noticed a suspicious occupied vehicle parked along the side of the road. Upon a records check of the license plate, the officer learned the vehicle was stolen from Los Angeles County. The officer contacted the male subject inside the vehicle and determined he was not the owner of the vehicle. Officers arrested Adrian Renteria Hernandez, age 38, from Bishop for vehicle theft and an outstanding arrest warrant. Renteria Hernandez was booked into the Inyo County Jail.

On Wednesday, February 3, 2021, Officers were patrolling the 100 block of South Street when an officer observed a S10 Chevrolet pickup. The officers initiated a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation. During contact with the occupants, the officers located narcotic paraphernalia inside the vehicle. As the investigation continued, the officers discovered the license plate attached to the vehicle belong to a different vehicle. Officers learned the pickup was stolen from Los Angeles County. Jesus Imperialgerman, age 29, of Mammoth Lakes was arrested and booked at the Inyo County Jail for vehicle theft.
