The Bishop Lions are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Zone 3-B Student Speakers Contest, recently held at the VFW Hall, 484 Short Street, in Bishop. In accordance with Lion contest rules, the winner’s identity remains confidential until the next round—the Region B contest—scheduled for March 27th at 5 p.m. at the Bishop VFW Hall. This upcoming event will feature students from Owens Valley and Nevada.
Pictured above (left to right) are Zone contest participants: Bishop Lion Stan Smith (Zone Contest Chair), contest judge Casey Jasaitis (Bishop Salvation Army), judge Bill Schuck (United Methodist Church), the secret student winner, Bishop Lion Barb Smith (Region 3 Chair), judge Jen Roeser (Inyo County Supervisor), and judge John Camphouse (Management Consultant and United Methodist Church).
The Bishop Lions extend their gratitude to the judges for volunteering their time to support this valuable student speakers series. The contest aims to encourage high school students to develop public speaking skills, gain confidence in researching and presenting a speech, and engage with an appreciative community audience. Participants have the opportunity to earn cash awards and significant scholarships toward their higher education.
