Bishop Union High School girls varsity soccer team hosted the Rosamond Roadrunners Tuesday, January 7.
To start the game off, Brooke Taylor scored the first goal at the 20 minute mark from an Alyssa Buchholz’ assist. Center back Gabby Veenker took a long shot that sailed just over the top of the goalkeeper’s hands and into the back of the net for the second goal of the game. Ashley Sandoval found the back of the net from a Katya Fierro assist At the end of the first half the score was 3 to 0 in favor of the Broncos.
In the second half Brooke Taylor was able to find the back of the net for the second time. Katya Fierro pass the ball to Alyssa Buchholz who was also able to find the back of the net. Ashley Sandoval found the back of the net a second time when Madyn Weller passed her the ball.
Coach Bill Dailey was impressed with the play. The team continues to improve each week.
Player of the game goes to Alyssa Buchholz for her control of the center of the field. Alyssa Buchholz ended the game with one goal and two assist.
The final score was 6 to 0. Both goalkeepers, Riley Van Nest, keeper for the first half, and Scarlett Buccholz, keep her for the second half, took on several shots and made some great saves.
Bishop Broncos will travel to Edwards Air Force Base ti take on the Desert scorpions this Thursday, January 9.
