The Bishop City Council will meet tonight and talk about Bishop area DWP land releases, a DWP sale of surplus property,

A leash law at Bishop City Park is up for discussion at the Study Session.

the City Park leash law, a new mural and a police grant.

First the Study Session at 4pm at City Hall. Officials will talk about the release of a large vacant parcel owned by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power on Hanby St. Officials of Inyo County, the City of Bishop and DWP met April 29th to talk about DWP land in the Bishop area. An update from that discussion is expected.

DWP also informed the City of Bishop they they intend to sell at auction land now occupied by Bishop Nursery on Home St. DWP wanted to know if the City of Bishop was interested in buying it.

Then, an update on the relocation of a mail box in front of 263 Main St. where Alpine Signs pointed out that the mail box takes up two parking spaces badly needed for the businesses on Main St. So far, the post office has declined to move it. More tonight.

The Council will consider closure of part of Warren St. at Academy on May 20th to dedicate a ceramic mural on the east side of the Inyo County Library, sponsored by the Sierra Ceramic Mural Project and Bishop Mural Society.

The Bishop Police Department wants approval to apply for a COPS grant to fund the hiring of an entry-level officer for a period of three years.

The Bishop City Council – Study Session at 4pm and regular meeting at 7pm. Both meetings at City Hall.
