Bishop Union High School Varsity Football advances to the CIF Central Section Semifinals with a 55-43 win over Bakersfield North. The Broncos will now host the Morro Bay Pirates in the Division 5 semis.

Boden St. Marie had a big night for the Bronco offense completing 10 of 20 passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns to Richie Talavera. The sophomore wide receiver had a big night with 4 catches for 139 yards and the two scores. St. Marie also rushed for a pair of touchdowns as did Sophomore fullback Malachi Orrick.  Senior running back Austin Powell ran the ball 22 times for 143 yards including a 59 yard touchdown late in the 4th quarter helping to seal the game.

Defensively the Broncos were led by Senior Jason Mullner who had 9 solo tackles and a quarterback sack for a safety.   Junior Safety Nello Dondero had a big game with 10 solo tackles and fellow Safety Richie Talavera had 3 solos and a second half interception.  Sophomore defensive lineman Malachi Orrick had 6 solo tackles and 6 assists.   Senior Wes Jorgensen had 6 solo tackles, 3 tackles for loss and a sack.   Sophomore Carlos Sualez had 6 solo tackles and a tackle for loss and also had a key first half special teams play returning a North kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.

The Broncos will host the Morro Bay Pirates at John Schwab Field on Friday, November 17.
