The Candidates Forum is expected to last about an hour, and will follow the same format the Civic Club used last January when the Big Pine Town Hall was packed with a standing room only crowd to listen to candidates vying for the office of Fourth District Supervisor, and the office of Superior Court Judge in last March’s primary election.

Following an opportunity to introduce themselves – distinguishing themselves from their fellow Candidate, and tell how they plan to carry out the responsibilities of the office of County Supervisor as they understand them – the candidates will be asked a series of nine questions by the Forum’s panelists: Sandy Lund, Rosemary Todd, and Charles James.

Each panelist will get to select three questions from a Master List of 20 Questions prepared by the Big Pine Civic Club’s Organizing Committee and delivered to the panelists just minutes before the start of the  Candidates Forum.

Big Pine Civic Club President, Sandy Lund, explained, “This approach provides safeguards to ensure that no Candidate may receive an unfair advantage, from either a Committee Member or Panelist, by knowing the possible or specific questions the Candidates will be asked.”

No questions will be taken by the audience to simplify the administration of the online event. However, both Candidates will be asked to provide their email addresses and phone numbers in the Zoom “chat area” so that voters can contact them one-on-one to ask follow-up questions after the event.

The Zoom meeting room will only accommodate 100 participants, so citizens who want to view the Candidate Forum in real time are encouraged to log in a few minutes early. For those who are unable to join the Zoom meeting, the Forum will be recorded, and a link to the video will be posted on the Big Pine Civic Club’s Facebook page .
