The Bishop Fire Department Expects High Winds on the 4th of July
Be careful with your fireworks
Bishop— 7/2/2018 —The Bishop Fire Department is reminding everyone to be safe with
fireworks this 4th of July Holiday. The National Weather Service is expecting high winds on Wednesday the 4th , in and around Inyo County.
The current weather forecast is going to be hot and dry with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour. These conditions make the use of fireworks extremely dangerous.
Please Don’t Light Fireworks in the Wind
The fire department asks that you please wait until the winds calm before using your Safe and Sane fireworks. Using fireworks in the wind creates an unnecessary fire risk to you and your neighbors. We request that you wait until 6 PM or later to use your fireworks. This includes both your private residence and if you are joining us at the airport for our annual celebration.
Use only California State Fire Marshal approved fireworks
Never use near dry grass or other flammable materials
Light only one at a time
Have a bucket of water and hose nearby
