Mono County Sheriff News Release
On October 13, 2020, at approximately 10:16 P.M. Mono County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Benton Paiute Reservation, with reports of a physical altercation and possible shots fired. While in route, Deputies received additional information of multiple victims with head injuries.
Through the course of the investigation, witness statements and physical evidence collected led investigators to one outstanding suspect.
Gabriel Lopez Marquez was arrested and charged with Assault with a deadly weapon, Child Endangerment, Threaten Crime with intent to Terrorize and Battery with Serious Bodily Harm. Marquez was booked into the Mono County Jail.
We would like to thank our allied law enforcement agencies and first responders for their assistance. California Highway Patrol- Bishop (CHP), Mammoth Lakes Police Department (MLPD), White Mountain Fire Department (WMFD), Mono County EMS, and Symon’s Ambulance, out of Bishop.
