She retired in 2014 after 57 years of dedicated service to her community. Throughout her life, Alina was deeply committed to community service. She served on the Lone Pine Unified School Board and held board positions with both the Friends of the Lone Pine Library and the Eastern Sierra Museum. Known for her quick wit, sharp intelligence, and wonderful sense of humor, Alina cultivated deep and lasting friendships throughout her life. Her friends treasured her company and the joy she brought to every gathering. While raising her family, she found delight in attending her sons’ sporting events, family picnics, camping trips, and weekend adventures exploring four-wheel-drive roads and cutting firewood. She and Jack shared a passion for travel, embarking on numerous adventures across Europe, Australia, and Japan, with special affection for Alaska. They enjoyed cruises, long train journeys, and river voyages together with their closest friends. Above all, Alina and Jack treasured their life in Lone Pine, their deep connections with family and friends, and most importantly, their love for each other.
