Alice Olds Smalley | 1931 – 2021

Sunday, April 18, 2021, Alice Smalley was reunited with those who have gone before her at the glorious age of 90. Alice was born February 27, 1931 in Smith, NV to Jim and Blanche Olds.

She attended school in Coleville and Independence CA. She also attended Reno Business College for an Associates in Secretarial work. She served the Eastern star for many years in different capacities.

She married Robert Pitman and they had one daughter, Shirlee. They later divorced and she remarried Kenneth Smalley, and they had one son, Jim. She was faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She served in many different capacities, not only in the LDS church but her daily life as well. She served as Worthy Matron and Grand Representative to Nevada while her tenure in the Eastern Star. She volunteered at the Mt. Whitney Fish Hatchery in Independence, CA and the Museum of Western Film History.

She loved to sew and provided many contributions for service projects with this talent. At one time she took a doll repair course. She loved to laugh and make others laugh with her. She was very kind and loving, even to strangers. She loved her family dearly and was quick to forgive.

She is survived by her Daughter, Shirlee and Thad Forrester, Tooele, Utah and her son Jim Smalley and Mary, Sparks, Nevada. Her two sisters, Mary and Tim Gunn and Lillis Hunter and Jack (deceased), and several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 in Independence, CA at Independence Cemetery 11 am. Interment will be by Mt. Whitney Mortuary in Lone Pine.
