Saturday morning, fire swept through dry brush in the area around Tuttle Creek and Indian Spring Roads in the Alabama Hills – an area very close to as many as 80 homes west of Lone Pine. Fortunately, at last word, none of those homes was damaged.
Sierra Wave’s weather forecaster, Dennis Mattinson, a resident in the area, called us to report the fire which started in the area of a gun range near the pheasant club. Initial plans to evacuate the area were called off.
Gun shots could be heard around 10:30 am – not an unusual circumstance.
