32 year old Mark Strout of Bishop remained in critical condition at Renown Hospital in Reno at last word. Strout nearly drowned last week when the car he was driving veered into Bishop Canal north of E. Line St.accident_canal_strout

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate this accident. Four Children were also in the car and managed to get out when the car became submerged in the waters of the canal. They could not get Strout out. He was apparently unconscious and seat-belted in.

A dramatic rescue effort by police, sheriff’s deputies, and DA investigator saved Strout who was then airlifted to Renown. The extent of his injuries was unknown. Among the four children in the vehicle, it is known that the 3-year-old girl, Jordyn Brown, was Strout’s child.

The CHP has only said that it looks like Strout was driving too fast, lost control, hit an embankment and veered across the road and into the canal.
