Community Won’t Give Up on the A-Frame: Elves Bring New Cheer to a Bishop Icon

The Bishop community proved once again that some traditions are simply too special to let fade away. This week, a team of cheerful “elves” gave the beloved A-frame a festive makeover for 2025, breathing fresh life into this soon to be taken landmark.

For decades, the A-frame at the park has been the heart of Bishop’s Christmas season. It’s where families have gathered shoulder-to-shoulder for the annual tree lighting, where wide-eyed kids waited for Santa and Mrs. Claus, and where—on truly magical years—live reindeer stood under the winter sky. Okay, so maybe no live reindeer. The building isn’t just wood and beams; it’s a time capsule of community laughter, warmth, and wonder.

Though the structure has weathered years of change, the community’s affection for it has remained unshaken. This latest round of decorating isn’t just a dash of holiday spirit—it’s a statement. Bishop isn’t letting go of the traditions that bring people together regardless of what the future holds for this building.

Garlands, lights, ornaments, and a touch of elf mischief now adorn the A-frame, signaling the start of another season of celebration even though the Chamber of Commerce has moved into a new location. As families begin to gather and the snowline creeps lower on the mountains, the decorated A-frame stands ready to visually appease passersby.

In Bishop, Christmas doesn’t just arrive—it’s built, protected, and passed on. And the A-frame remains its shining centerpiece, possibly this one last time.
