Ashlee’s Toy Closet, Inc. was founded in 2007 by then 8 year old Ashlee Smith. Ashlee & her family had lost their home in a fire a few years before the Angora Fire devastated the Lake Tahoe area. Ashlee’s father was a firefighter on the line. He often sent photos as a way to let his family know he was safe. Ashlee, time after time, no matter what, focused on the burned toys and told her mom she had to help as she knew how they felt.

​Ashlee explained most organizations help the adults but the kids lose too. They lost their security and comfort items, most often those are their toys or stuffed animals. They lost that item that helps make them smile. Thus began Ashlee’s Toy Closet, Inc., and since then millions of toys have been collected and donated across the country and world.

​Ashlee’s Toy Closet, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Sparks, Nevada.
