Michael Corey Romo
March 1, 1983 – October 23, 2025
Corey was born at Northern Inyo Hospital on March 1, 1983, to Deanna Bever of Bishop, CA, and Michael Romo of Scottsdale, AZ. From a young age, Corey dreamed of being a cowboy like his dad. As a child, he was often seen trying to rope his sisters, always bringing laughter to those around him. He had a lifelong love for rodeo, dirt bikes, and sports—especially his favorite teams, the Raiders and the Dodgers. Corey also enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors with family and friends. At the age of 17, Corey was diagnosed with
renal failure and underwent dialysis treatments until his passing. Despite this challenge, he faced life with strength, resilience, and an unwavering spirit.
He worked in carpentry as a laborer and never let his illness prevent him from raising his
beloved son, Chaaden Romo, alongside his best friend, Tabiya. A proud member of the Bishop Paiute Tribe, Corey spent some of his teenage years in Scottsdale, AZ, but lived the majority of his life in Bishop, CA. He will be remembered for his gift of storytelling—he could always bring shared memories to life—and for his love of horror movies and the deep care he had for his nieces and nephews.
Corey is survived by his mother, Deanna Bever; his son, Chaaden Romo; his grandson, Umi David; his sisters, Stevie Pole and Gloria “Lovey” Bever; uncle Eugene Martinez, his aunts, Carol Warlie, Sandy Warlie, and Bernie Bever; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Rollin Williams; grandmothers, Verna Romo and Angeline Bever; grandfather, Harold Bever Sr.; uncles, Harold “Buzzy” Bever and Wallace
Bever; and cousins, Dillon Bever and Christopher Williams.
Corey passed away peacefully at his home on October 23, 2025, having spent the previous weekend at a bull riding event with his close friend John and nephews. He will be remembered as a devoted father, caring son, loving brother and uncle, and loyal friend. His strength, kindness, and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
