Another BUHS victory!

The JV Mathletes team claim another victory for their incandescent performance at Tehachapi High School this year. We scored a mind-blowing 40 points, which put us in first place out of 6 schools. Tehachapi scored an impressive 24 points, tying with Silver Valley. Behind them were Dessert with 22 points, followed by Boron with 19 points and Rosamond with 15 points. It was the first of many meets, but we expect more extraordinary results.

The individual scores of our members this meet were outstanding. Scoring a remarkable 9 points, Hazel Hays took first place. Behind her were Santi Lopez, Eddy Chavez, and Banyan Fulkerson in second place with 8 points each. Tulika Deb and Liam Livingsby tied for third with 7 points, and William Gratz and Brandon Watters finished with 6 points each. Teammates Kevin Rivas, Brady Johnson, Nelson Mendiola, Roberto Reyes, Meika Borow, Caitlyn Gilardin, Cosmo Schwartz and Augie Warburton also competed in this meet and did outstanding. Special shout-out to our JV returners Santi Lopez and Kevin Rivas.

These scores are well deserved, given the problems we had to solve. This meet had rounds that made us think hard, and we’re so proud of all of our members for solving questions like this:

We have high hopes for our future meets, and we expect this momentum to carry us through the year. This team is led by Coach DeeDee Buchholz who said “This was such an impressive and GIGANTIC first place finish to start our season. This is a very strong and young team with only 2 returners on our roster of 19. They are working hard and doing great!” Good luck, Broncos!
