Rep. Kevin Kiley Responds to Gerrymandered Congressional Map
SACRAMENTO – Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA) denounced the release of new, gerrymandered congressional district maps, noting that “in California, voters, not Sacramento politicians, decide who wins elections.”
“Make no mistake, I will win reelection to the House regardless of the proposed changes to my district,” Rep. Kiley said. “But I fully expect that the beautiful 3rd District will remain exactly as it is. We will defeat Newsom’s sham initiative and vindicate the will of California voters.”
Rep. Kiley has already introduced a bill that would ban mid-decade redistricting, outlined his plan in a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed, and called on Speaker Mike Johnson to establish a bipartisan commission on redistricting reform to end political gerrymandering nationwide.
