Traffic Advisory for the Week of February 24, 2025
EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of February 24 – February 28.
Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
New Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
· Tehachapi Summit Crack Seal Operation – On the westbound lanes of State Route 58 from State Route 202 (Tucker Road) to Broome Road near Tehachapi, crews will perform a crack-seal operation Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. There will be intermittent lane closures and drivers may experience brief delays.
· Kern County Sign Replacement Project – Crews will replace traffic signs in the following locations:
· On State Route 14 from just south of Rosamond Boulevard to approximately 5 miles north of California City Boulevard
· On State Route 58 from just west of Exit 165 near Mojave to 100th Street
Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be intermittent shoulder closures.
Inyo County
· Bishop Pole Work – On U.S. 395 from Brockman Lane to N. Pa-Ha Lane, the southbound outside lane will close while utility crews perform maintenance work on a pole on Monday from 7:30 am to 10:00 am.
Mono County
· Mono County Crack-Seal Operation – On U.S. 395, crews will seal pavement cracks in two locations:
· From Topaz Lane to the marine base housing near Coleville
· From the Nevada State Line to one mile south along Topaz Lake
Work is scheduled Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control and drivers may experience 5-minute delays.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
· 23/24 Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project – On State Route 178 E at various locations between Ridgecrest Boulevard and Las Flores Avenue, crews will modify traffic signals and lighting systems. Work is scheduled overnight Monday through Thursday from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. One lane will close in both directions and drivers may experience brief delays.
· Ridgecrest Sidewalks – On State Route 178 E between South Gateway Boulevard and Gold Canyon Street, the outside westbound lane remains closed for new curb ramp construction. Work is scheduled for Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
Inyo County
· Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Project – Construction continues on the Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Expressway Project. Northbound drivers will encounter two traffic switches on the new lanes of U.S. 395 and traffic is limited to one lane in each direction through the northern half of the project area. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph through the project area and 45 mph through the two traffic switches.
Travelers are asked to be attentive to workers on the highway, slow for the cone zone, and move over whenever possible to give additional clearance. Be Safe and Be Work Zone Alert!
