FastTrack Text Phishing Scam

The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office has received reports from concerned community members regarding a text-based phishing scam targeting FastTrack toll users. This scam attempts to deceive recipients into paying fraudulent “outstanding toll fees” by sending texts that appear to be from legitimate toll agencies.

California Toll Operators are advising drivers to disregard these texts, which often contain a specific dollar amount for an alleged unpaid toll. These messages are not legitimate and are intended to trick recipients into sharing sensitive financial information or making unauthorized payments.

Important Advisory for Residents:

Do not respond to these texts or click on any links provided.
Verify information directly with your tolling agency if you are unsure about the authenticity of a
message.
You can find information about California tolling agencies at https://fastrak.org/tollinginca/.
Report phishing texts to the FBl’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at www.ic3.gov.

The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office is committed to ensuring our residents remain informed and protected from scams like this. If you believe you’ve been targeted or have additional questions, contact the tolling agency in your region or the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office at (760) 878-0383.
