The 8050 will become Auberge Residences at Mammoth
Town of Mammoth Lakes Tourism Department reports that Auberge Resorts will expand into Mammoth Lakes.
Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (November 18, 2011) – Auberge Resorts, owners and operators of award- winning luxury resorts and private residence clubs throughout North America, has continued its expansion into ski country. The company announced that it will assume management of 80|50 Mammoth in Mammoth Lakes, Calif. on December 1, 2011, and rebrand it as the Auberge Residences at Mammoth. This newest addition to Auberge’s portfolio of exceptional resorts and residences includes 28 one, two, and three-bedroom luxury residences that will be available as both fractional ownership and rental units.

I’m sure that changing the name of 80/50 will help pay the forty two million dollars we owe to the 35 vultures that own MLLA.
Mammoth Lakes was incorporated in 1984. And it only took our esteemed community leaders 20 years to take us to the brink of bankruptcy all the while promising unparalleled prosperity if we only build more fractional ownership hotels.
And even with the fatal flaw of the towns economic model, there will be a bunch of people who think that the name change of a fractional ownership condominium hotel really means something.
Ken the owners of MLLA are not vultures, they are savvy business people. Your “not so savvy” elected officials should have never got the town involved.
I would much rather have MLLA making my business decisions then the people you elected to run your town. I know you’re mad, but put the blame in the right place.
So “savvy” means that 35 people can screw 8000 people and be praised for their business acumen?
Well, you are probably right that Americans worship success no matter how many people get screwed in the process.
And you get your wish. MLLA is making the business decisions that will affect not only the whole town of Mammoth Lakes — as distinct from Mammoth Mountain as it can be — and the entire Mono County since Mammoth Lakes is the primary source of revenue for Mono County.
