Saturday November 23, the Museum of Western Film History in Lone Pine is opening its doors to the community with FREE admission to the museum

As an added bonus, the museum theater will be featuring a full β€œSaturday Matinee” featuring four action-packed movies filmed in Lone Pine’s Alabama Hills.

Here’s the schedule:

9:30AM – THE HITCH-HIKER (1953) 70min. Edmund O’Brien, William Tallman. The Grand-daddy of all serial killer movies, as a hitch-hiker stalks and murders vacationers traveling through the Alabama Hills.

10:45AM – DAREDEVILS OF THE WEST (1943) 25min. B&W Allan Lane. Cliffhanger Serials like this influenced the Indiana Jones moves with non-stop action. This one is considered the most action-packed, filmed on and around movie road in the Alabama Hills. Chapter 1: β€œValley of Death.”

11:10AM – WESTWARD HO (1935) 61min. B&W John Wayne. Big Duke Wayne stars in this thrilling tale of two brothers separated by outlaws at birth. While the younger brother grows up to join the dark side, older brother Wayne forms a vigilante army to battle the outlaws.

12:20PM – JOE KIDD (1972) 88min. COLOR / WIDESCREEN Clint Eastwood. In this explosive western written by Elmore Leonard (JUSTIFIED, JACKIE BROWN), Ex-bounty hunter Joe Kidd (Clint Eastwood) is hired by wealthy landowner Frank Harlan (Robert Duvall) to track down a Mexican revolutionary leader fighting for land reform.

2:00PM – TREMORS (1990) 96min. COLOR / WIDESCREEN Kevin Bacon Handymen Val McKee (Kevin Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) uncover a series of mysterious deaths and battle giant, prehistoric, worm-like monsters hungry for human flesh in the Alabama Hills.
