Traffic Advisory for the Week of 11/25/2024 – 11/29/2024
EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts for the week of November 25 – November 29.
There will be no work on the State Highway System November 28 or 29 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Work schedules are subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.
New Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
· Summit Off-Ramp Light Pole Installation – On the westbound off-ramp at Exit 151 on State Route 58 near Tehachapi, crews will install a light pole on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
Inyo County
· Bishop Pole Replacement – On the northbound shoulder of U.S. 395 from N. See Vee Lane to MacGregor Avenue, utility crews will replace a pole and transfer wires across the highway on Monday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Drivers may experience brief delays.
San Bernardino County (District 9 maintains State Routes 127 and 178 in San Bernardino County in coordination with District 8)
· Trona Road Utility Work – On State Route 178 E from one mile west of Trona Road to one mile east near Ridgecrest, utility crews will replace structures on Monday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control and drivers may experience 10-minute delays.
Ongoing Traffic Impacts
Eastern Kern County
· State Route 58 Shoulder Signs – On State Route 58 from Exit 172 to Hyundai-Kia Boulevard east of Mojave, there are signs in the westbound shoulder warning of work off the pavement Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
· Cache Creek/Keene Scales CMS Project – On State Route 58 near the CHP Truck Scales west of State Route 14, the westbound shoulder will close while crews construct changeable message signs. Work is scheduled Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
· China Lake Water Main Replacement – On State Route 178 E between N. Brady Street and N. Victor Street, the westbound outside lane is closed while crews replace a water main Monday through Wednesday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. The outside lane will reopen after work hours and the shoulder will close at night.
Inyo County
· Olancha-Cartago Northbound Traffic Switch – Northbound traffic now runs on the new northbound lanes of U.S. 395 within the Olancha-Cartago 4-Lane Expressway Project area. Traffic remains in the new alignment until just south of Crystal Geyser Road, where through traffic will use the left lane to continue north toward Lone Pine and Bishop, while drivers looking to access Olancha, Cartago, and State Route 190 to Death Valley will use the right lane to head east. Drivers are advised to follow the directions posted on highway signs. Southbound traffic remains in its current traffic pattern. The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph through the traffic switches and 55 mph through the project area. · Olancha Shoulder Closures – On U.S. 395 at the junction with State Route 190 in Olancha, there will be intermittent shoulder closures to allow trucks access to deliver material Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
· Death Valley Flood Damage Repair – On State Route 190 near 20 Mule Team Road east of Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park, crews will pause work on flood damage repairs. Once crews return, they will work at the same location Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control and drivers may experience 10-minute delays.
Mono County
· Mammoth Lakes Traffic Camera Installation – On State Route 203 from Forest Trail to just east of Meridian Boulevard, crews will continue to install traffic cameras Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
San Bernardino County (District 9 maintains State Route 127 in San Bernardino County in coordination with District 8)
· Baker Utility Work – On State Route 127 from Interstate 15 to Schoolhouse Lane, county crews have placed traffic control devices in the shoulders. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Travelers are asked to be attentive to workers on the highway, slow for the cone zone, and move over whenever possible to give additional clearance. Be Safe and Be Work Zone Alert!
