A stolen bike at Carls Jr. Wednesday night led to an arrest of a Mammoth resident. Mammoth Police report that the owner of the bike saw someone ride off on his K-2 mountain bike just before 11:00 Wednesday night. The victim was able to give the police a description of the suspect, reported to have had a black eye.

After searching a nearby apartment complex, Officers reported seeing a subject with a black eye looking out of a window at him. Officers saw bike tire tracks through dust left by a discharged fire extinguisher which reportedly led to an apartment where police later arrested Cody Lee Gangl for alleged grand theft, vandalism, and receiving stolen property.

Police say when property theft happens, having your snowboard, laptops, bicycles, and tools registered can help officers return stolen property when or if it is recovered.

Sgt. Karen Smart explained that any item with a serial number can be registered with the Police free of charge. They do ask that you call ahead of time if you have more than one item, or if your whole family wants to register their bikes.

For more information call the Mammoth Police at 934 2011. Bishop Police also have a bike and property registration program. Call them at 873-5866.
