C5 Studios invites artists to attend meeting for downtown Bishop mural project

Using a recently awarded grant from the KDA Creative Corps (KDACC), the team at C5 Studios Community Arts Center are calling for local artists to attend an informational meeting at the arts center on Warren St on Wednesday, June 28th at 5.30pm to learn more about the overall concept design and find out how to participate in this exciting collaborative community mural.

With support from the KDA Creative Corps, C5 Studios Community Arts Center will aim to take a lead role in igniting a new wave of public art in the City of Bishop, Inyo County and surrounding areas that amplify the voices of communities currently under-represented within public art in this region and bring a fresh, contemporary approach to public art.  By creating a large, collaborative mural at a prominent downtown site, C5 Studios aims to model a collaborative approach, prioritization of under-represented voices and community engagement in public art with a strong social justice focus.

“We hope this opportunity will allow us to connect with artists in this valley who we don’t yet know, in addition to the local artists we already work with who we know are excited to get started on this exciting, ambitious project!” said Naomi Hart Johnson, one of the Directors of C5 Studios.  “All interested artists are welcome at the meeting on Wednesday, regardless of age and level of experience.  Anyone who is interested but can’t make it is encouraged to request a summary of the meeting content by reaching out to us via email at [email protected].”
