Some of the comments, reply’s and thumbs up/down here are evidence of how some in our population really feel about our military and veterans.
They don’t care as much as they think and say they do.
Quite depressing.
Great idea, however, i wish something could be done for many of us that have lost friends and comrades over the years, both in battle and suicide. Generally, the VA does a good job with health care and providing for other medical services. I find it offensive that many in general population don’t appreciate or respect the family sacrifice that those in the military suffer. I served in the USMC for four years in Vietnam and have more than 40 names on the wall that i served with. A light in the window is nice, however, something better would be to have more join and serve. We are short of capable bodies to fulfill the ranks of those that are retiring. During the 60’s we had a draft that was opposed by most of the Country. Get rid of the Woke agenda in the military..their purpose is to protect the county and break things. Make wearing the uniform an honor not a albatross.
Too bad our troops were not deployed protecting our southern border instead engaged in a futile 20-year boondoggle in Afghanistan that seems only to have further enriched the military-industrial complex.
Nice thought but we don’t need or want pretty green lights, we want to be prioritized over illegals, is that too much to ask?
What we have to travel and jump through hoops for we see illegals being given locally and far more rapidly just for being illegal, it’s not right.
Everybody claims to care about veterans, especially during an election season but not everybody honestly does, their votes definitely don’t reflect it.
Your absolutely right Tinner, it’s like an insult. Must be a democrat that came up with that idea.
Funny how Dems are the only ones actually making policy improvements to help Vets, while Rs make noise and cut funding for the VA.

IMO,don’t blame the “illegals’ for ignoring so many of the Veterans this Country has been ignoring for years and years,especially the homeless Veterans…not for the red to be blaming the blue now.
The past one-term administration,while they were giving BILLIONS of dollars in tax breaks to the rich and multi-billion dollar business’ and business men that supported them for doing so,maybe THAT 2016-2020 administration should’ve addressed the problem instead of when they were booted out in 2021 playing the blame-game now…
When and where did I blame the illegals? I’d be doing the same thing if I were them, and if the president invited me to come.
“Ignoring” is an exaggeration but you’re right, this country hasn’t made veterans a priority, have any idea why? The illegals seem to be getting everything they want and need, some are being housed in hotels while Americans are sleeping on the sidewalk, including combat veterans.
Why haven’t our politicians that have been in office for “years and years” done anything for veterans? How is “the past one-term administration” who held office for 4 years responsible for this problem that’s been going on for “years and years”?
Maybe we should be holding the politicians that have been in office for “years and years”, decades, why more hasn’t been done; maybe we should be voting them out not reelecting/promoting them.
30 & 40+ years vs 4 years, it ain’t rocket science who should be held into question, you’d think anyway.

The Biden Administration’s PACT-act,helping Veterans and their families with medical help and issues is much better than all those lies and double-talk we got from trump and his long and annoying four years in office..
All those trump-lies ,told mainly around the 2018 mid-terms,and again when he was up for re-election in 2020 did very little to help with any of the problems facing our Veterans nowdays…as usual,his “helping out” speeches were nothing but lies told to the American people…self-serving only hoping for votes….

Served what exactly? Maybe you had good intentions and thought you were fighting for “freedom” and I applaud that aspect for those who sold them selves the idea of serving.
But the fact is you and every other person who “serves” is nothing more than a tool for corporate interests. The US Inc. military does not fight for freedom or anything noble whatsoever. You and every other government agent are serving the interests of the elite and not true Americans. Order following pawns, nothing more. All wars are banker wars. This has nothing to do with being on the left or right either… its a simple matter of fact.

What a silly statement. I am a liberal and I honor veterans who have served and died for our country. Oh and no , I don’t live in a “cesspool city”, but right here in the beautiful Eastern Sierra. Don’t generalize like that Piner. Everyone, including “illegals” as some people call them just want a better life for their families. I like to treat others as I would like to be treated.
I find it difficult to believe somebody can prioritize veterans over illegals if they can’t even recognize and call them for what they are, illegals.
The incentives we have for illegal immigration started with they “just want a better life for their families.” That’s where prioritizing illegals over veterans began.

Yes, they are illegal immigrants. Calling them by the slang term “illegals” is my objection. We are all human beings and nobody should be “prioritized” over anyone. We all deserve respect and help. My husband is a veteran and he agrees.
You clearly don’t honor veterans, stop thinking and saying that you do.

In what I see and know,about 99 % of our Veterans don’t need or want anytype of babysitting from our Government…except for medical care,drug prices and the things that go along with it….after all the talk,talk,talk of doing something about that problem,but no real action from 2016-2020,it took the Biden administration and the PACT act to do much about the problems with their medical care and prescription drug prices and ceilings….which the repubs in Congress totally voted against doing…

I’ve gotten a few eyerolls, always college age kids, when I wear my duty station hat.
On occasion young boys stare then ask “were you in the army?” then we talk a bit, that’s always fun.
I know a few liberals who left CA and kept voting the same way, I still love them, it’s not their fault : )
While the new neighbor from an urban area seemed to think it was okay to shoot at bears out his back door the last time my well being was deliberately threatened by another person here in the Eastern Sierra it was a self proclaimed “local” – and that was not the only time. So yeah – “locals” – not exactly the nicest people, not the smartest either –
