A heat wave with dangerously high temperatures is expected to continue to impact California this week. Mono County Public Health urges residents and visitors to take precautions in an effort to help reduce the risk of heat-related health problems.
Summer heat waves can be dangerous. A very high body temperature can damage the brain and other vital organs. Some health conditions can make it harder for the body to stay cool in hot weather. These include old age, obesity, fever, dehydration, heart disease, poor circulation, sunburn and drug and alcohol use.
When temperatures are very high, make sure to:
• Drink plenty of water;
• Reduce outdoor exposure;
• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing;
• Schedule outdoor activities carefully, and cut down on exercise;
• Stay out of the sun; and,
• Seek a cooler location if your home does not have air conditioning.

It was no public health service warning like this that killed the 49’ers.
John
Those days,LONG gone.
Now,it’s recent flashflood warnings,heat warnings,wind warnings,earthquake warnings,warnings on what and what not to do when outside hiking,fishing,camping……
Soon,it will be snow and ice warnings,cold weather warnings,storm warnings..
And along with all the warnings,sometimes evacuation “orders” when some incident is a “maybe ” or miles away.
But,when you think about it,probably a needed thing to do this day and age,since common sense has taken a holiday the past 20 years or so.
In the winter, there is a sleeping bag for every person in the vehicle plus food. Bring the water in at night so it doesn’t freeze.
Some of the Donner Party did not even make it to 49 after not following advice about weather.
