INYO COUNTY, CA, May 27, 2022 – On May 26, at approximately 12:20am, Inyo County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Lone Pine Mobil for a robbery, which had just occurred. When Deputies arrived the store clerk reported a male subject walked into the store and demanded he open the cash register. The subject reached in his pocket as to grab for a gun and said “don’t make me do it.” The store clerk opened the register and the subject grabbed the cash. The subject fled on foot, and the clerk called 911.
Deputies arrived on scene and began searching for the subject as evidence was collected and video surveillance reviewed.
Shortly after 2:00am, Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call regarding a suspicious subject in the alley behind Bonanza restaurant. Deputies responded and contacted a male subject later identified as 21 year old Anthony Lopez out of Olivehurst, CA. Lopez matched the description of the robbery suspect.
Deputies detained Lopez for questioning. After questioning Lopez he admitted to the robbery. No Firearm was located.
Lopez was arrested for 211 PC, second degree robbery, and transported to the Inyo County Jail.

And the funny thing about this story is,after the robbery,the perp attempted to jump the brick wall getting away,fell and broke his leg,and limped off to where he was caught …
Too many really DUMB criminales, and we in these over-touristed towns really have to watch those “tourists” and “travelers” from the big sprawl-places elsewhere in the State of Gotham (CA) who come to Inyo to wreak their havoc as I have seen time and time again since unfortunately moving to Inyo in 1997… (I am splitting “Jet Noise Valley here, also – just like the rich scion of Lone Pine has for the same reason…) GL y GB…
Oh there are plenty of OV citizens that “wreak havoc” here too.

My having lived in bigger cities before I moved to the Owens Valley (Salem.Oregon and Lancaster,Calif. ) those that choose to “wreck havoc” around our area,FAR from being the dangerous type like where I used to live.
And when they do attempt to be “bad asses”,they end up breaking their leg jumping a wall while making their attempted get-away.
In my neighborhood now,we call them ( the few ) “bicycle tweekers “…
Late night dopers riding bikes around at 3 A.M. looking for a lawn mower or a weed-wacker to steal,then trade the next day for a $20 baggie.
Try visiting Salem,Oregon,travel or work on Portland Road late-night,and you’d see what “wrecking havoc” is all about…
Part of living and/or working the night-shift in Salem,Oregon almost requires a CCW to survive….
David. I grew up in So Cal. No stranger to crime. Just pointing out that the finger should not always be pointed at “tourists” when it comes to bad guys.
Wee at least Lopez has a roof over his head. a bed to sleep in, and three meals a da,, and PBJ sandwiches for dinner now.

Looking over his shoulder each and every day,no matter where he happens to be.
All in a stinky,smelly cell ,at least for a while…
But a good bet,already out or close to being out on the streets again and to do all over again,thanks to the good ole’ American court and justice system nowdays..

Just for your own personal information,I’m 68 years old,did some stupid and bad things in my life,but NEVER spent one single day or night in a jail or prison cell.
The “stupid,bad and illegal” things I’ve done and did,got away with all of them.

Living here,we are SO FORTUNATE to have ICSO that actually do something and not sit on their hands for an hour like other States and Counties,according to recent news, seem to have.

I know,and most everyone else knows what they would NOT have done if they were or are Law Enforcement and in some type of “in charge”…
And that would be….exactly what they did do in Texas..
Nope,we can’t give all the usual accolades to much of anyone with this one…except to the border patrol officers that finally were “allowed” to go in.
And to the poor surviving children calling 9-1-1 for 70 + minutes from the classroom hoping for help while the bullets were going off in the classroom.

OV tweeker syndrome (and resultant klepto-manic/thieving behaviors too), but some intelligent entity REALLY NEEDS to oversight WTH goes on inside the ICJ (even to those who ultimately are judged NOT to have to be in there once it all gets sorted out by the higher IQ legal folks on the outside)… go figure. (oh yeah.. so WHY is the USA at ***118th place*** on the “International Peace Index” of 2018 compared to Australia at 15th place; Iceland at 1st place (I visited there and could see) – much better educated folks with likely 50 IQ points higher (on average) than in the OV, sorry to say. JUst some examples… Look at that index I just described above and see for yourselves…)

That is what chat rooms and reply’s are reserved for. A lot of law enforcement officers have big ego’s and think they “know it all” and they DO NOT. They also attempt to look at anyone not in law enforcement from their soap box.
Peter, I actually agree with you somewhat, but please learn the difference between plural and possessive. You diminish you credibility when you use reply’s instead of replies , and ego’s instead of egos. Literacy still matters.

Yup. People don’t know how to spell, their device attempts to make sense of their nonsense and comes up with a word. The writer does not bother to proofread but wouldn’t catch the error anyway because they still don’t know how to spell. With my few experiences with LE in the Owens Valley,not so much.
But the bigger cities,agree 100 %.
IMO,a big reason for that is the phony reporting from some news agencies.
With the recent Uvalde Texas school shooting,not an hour after the scene was being investigated,and long before the true facts came out,fox news was praising Law Enforcement for their “quick response ” and how they saved many lives with their quick actions,and then turning it political,saying how it’s partially Joe Biden’s fault with their lies of saying how he wants to “defund the Police”.
Aren’t you the same poster that was full of opinions and answers regarding the pandemic a while back? What’s your background? Epidemiologist? Public Health Expert? Or does running a motel make you an “expert” on global pandemics?
